Here in her own words…

My Singita journey
“Being in the incredibly fortunate position of spending the winter in beautiful Barbados, I found my way to Singita a few years ago knowing I needed to make improvements in my general fitness. As a post menopausal women in my early 50’s, I was feeling and looking out of shape, which in turn was affecting my mood, energy and general zest for life.

Although in my 20’s, like many, I had done some aerobics, a little yoga & Pilates but never really stuck to it. Throughout my 30’s & 40’s somehow with a mixture of extreme yo yo dieting and some running to ‘burn calories’, I was able to maintain a fairly slim physique. Looking back now I realise how unhealthy this was & today how it had impacted my body. During a Well Women check at Bioconnect here in Barbados 2 years ago, I had a shock diagnosis of severe Osteoporosis.

Luckily, I’d started a variety of classes Michelle was teaching all of which I loved. Her passion for helping people improve their fitness & form combined with a huge sense of fun meant I not only stuck to it but actually really enjoyed it. I was not only feeling fitter but noticed how much happier
I was also. I’ve since made it my mission to do everything I possibly can in terms of nutrition and fitness to prevent any more bone loss. I’m pleased to say at my last scan I’d not only not lost any more bone density but my numbers had improved very slightly. I cannot thank Michelle enough for her continued support and being a massive inspiration in my wellness journey.

Today when I’m in Barbados I continue to do as many classes as I can from HIIT, Circuits, to Yogalites & Ballet Barre, together more recently a couple of strength training sessions every week with the lovely Zac. As building muscle is so important for our bones he is motivating me increase my strength which is definitely working! I’m not going to lie, it’s hard work but the returns for me are worth it! With the expert knowledge & support from Michelle and Zac I’m feeling a fabulously fit & healthy 55 year old! I’ll challenge anyone to a plank hold!!!

The sense of community I’ve found at Singita is incredible. I have made some wonderful friends and now cannot imagine my life without it. Thank you all!”
